These documents are the Portable Document Format (PDF) and PostScript (PS) versions of their HTML counterparts included in the JDK documentation. PDF and PS are more suitable for printing multiple page documents than HTML. This is not a complete set of the JDK documentation.
These documents require either a PostScript viewer (for PS) or Acrobat Reader (for PDF). If the Acrobat reader you need is not on the CD, you can download an Acrobat Reader from Adobe for free from the Acrobat Reader download page.
When you copy these files, it does not matter which local directory you save them to, since there are no links to them from the HTML JDK documentation.
